Ethio-Amsterdam is a football team founded by young and enthusiast players of Ethiopian Origin. The team is run by individual contributors and other generous support of the Ethiopian Community Association in Amsterdam, VENA. Established in 1997, VENA is serving the Ethiopian its members as a bridge with Dutch society in such themes as integration, participation and social cohesion.
The Ethio-Amsterdam team has participated in several local and international football tournaments including the famous World Cup (WK) Amsterdam. It is also a founding member of the Europe-wide Ethiopian Sport and Culture Federation, ESCFE.
Apart from football competitions, the Ethio-Amsterdam club has been active in organizing various sport and cultural festivals aiming at bring the Ethiopians together.
The team has been working hard in creating festivals and competitions for the children, women, and elders. It is also active in organizing inter-ethnic football matches with the Turk, Ghana, Nigeria, Somalia, Dutch and Eritrean communities in Amsterdam.
Ethio Amsterdam is happy to announce that it has been selected to host the 8th Ethiopian Sport and Culture Festival in Europe.
